Pointing your domain to Double Hosting is the final step in taking your website live. This tutorial will walk you through replacing the default nameservers on your domain registrar (such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Google Domains) with the Double Hosting global nameservers.
Before you begin
Please note that DNS propagation can take anywhere from 1 hour to 24 hours. Your site might not be instantly accessible worldwide until propagation is complete.
1. Locate your nameservers
When your hosting account was activated, you should have received a "Welcome Email" containing your specific server IP and nameserver details. However, for 99% of shared and WordPress hosting customers, our global nameservers are:
ns1.doublehosting.net
ns2.doublehosting.net
If you are using a dedicated server or a custom VPS plan, your nameservers might be uniquely branded. Please refer to your server's welcome email in those cases.
2. Update your domain registrar
Log into the company where you originally registered your domain name. While the interface varies slightly from one registrar to another, the process is generally the same:
- Navigate to your "Domain List" or "My Domains".
- Find the domain you want to connect to Double Hosting.
- Look for a button labeled "Manage DNS", "DNS Settings", or "Nameservers".
- Select the option to use "Custom Nameservers" (instead of Default).
- Paste
ns1.doublehosting.netinto the primary slot andns2.doublehosting.netinto the secondary slot. - Save or Apply your changes.
3. Verifying the connection
Once you've saved the custom nameservers, you can track the global propagation of your domain using third-party tools like regular DNS checkers.
In the Double Hosting Control Panel, you can also navigate to Domains -> DNS Zone Editor to ensure your domain is mapped properly. If you see a green checkmark next to your domain, everything is set up perfectly.
